Becoming a Stand Up for Patient Safety member will help your organization to:

  • Provide the tools, resources, and education necessary to launch, sustain, and advance patient safety initiatives in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide the support and resources necessary to embed patient safety principles into organizational practice, align with national patient safety goals and meet critical regulatory requirements.
  • Keep your organization informed and aware of trends and information.
  • Help your organization to develop robust patient safety programs to:
    • Educate leadership and key stakeholders on the science of patient safety with sample presentations, seminal articles and NPSF-hosted webinars
    • Utilize valid and reliable measurement tools to assess organizational aptitude and readiness in areas such as patient safety culture, patient and family centeredness and board engagement
    • Demonstrate organizational commitment to patient safety within your community using Stand Up logos, plaques and various communications templates
  • Help your organization to enhance and sustain existing quality and safety programs by:
    • Engaging front-line staff and leadership in continuing education opportunities, including the NPSF Professional Learning Series webcasts and modules as well as the NPSF Patient Safety Congress
    • Spreading health literacy and communication tools throughout your patient population using the Ask Me 3 program at NPSF and tools provided in the Patient Safety Awareness Week Toolkit
    • Expanding current policies and procedures to include best practices from the field and integrate new approaches to topics such as disclosure and apology

An international peer review publication providing research, opinions, debates and reviews for academics, clinicians, and healthcare managers focused on the quality and safety of health care and the science of improvement. Stand Up members receive a 30% discount on this monthly, peer-reviewed journal.

  

Current Awareness Literature Alert

Annotated bibliography of recent articles of interest to the patient safety community, compiled by NPSF. Published 22 times per year with notice of new issues delivered by email.

Archive of our retired peer-reviewed, semi-annual publication that explored professional, consumer, and systems and human factors issues related to patient safety.

 

Online Patient Safety Curriculum

Stand Up members receive complimentary access to NPSF’s Online Patient Safety Curriculum for two staff members and discounted access ($199) for five additional staff members. Obtain the foundational knowledge necessary to understand the context, key principles, and competencies associated with the discipline of patient safety with this ten-module, self-paced, accredited course.

 

Online Educational Modules

Stand Up members receive unlimited, complimentary access to NPSF’s online, self-paced, educational modules developed by distinguished experts in the field. Each module addresses specific clinical topics through the lens of patient safety science principles, including Reducing Diagnostic Errors and Health Information Technology. A Patient Blood Management module is currently in development.

 

Professional Learning Series Webcasts

Stand Up members receive complimentary access to Professional Learning Series Webcasts. These monthly, 60-minute webcasts are led by expert faculty and address critical topics in the patient safety field. Each session offers continuing education credits, including CMEs, CEUs and CPEs to an unlimited number of participants per connection. Use your Member Code when registering to unlock the special member rate. Stand Up members also receive complimentary access to the PLS Webcast archives.

 

Ask Me 3 Material Cobranding Rights and Production-Ready Materials

Ask Me 3® is our patient education program designed to promote communication between health care providers and patients. The program encourages patients to ask 3 specific questions of their providers to better understand their health condition(s) and what they need to do to take care of themselves. Stand Up members have the right to use and distribute Ask Me 3 Materials and Trademarks within their organizations to aid in promoting patient safety and improved health communication. In addition, NPSF provides members complementary, production-ready Ask Me 3 materials, including brochures and posters.

 

Patient Safety Awareness Week Tools and Materials

Stand Up members receive a complimentary Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW) toolkit containing educational and promotional materials to distribute among patients and staff. PSAW is an annual education and awareness campaign for health care safety led by NPSF. It is geared at raising awareness in the community and among hospital staff and patients. Stand Up members also receive a 20% discount on other PSAW items purchased individually in the NPSF store. Discounted pricing will be automatically applied to your purchase in the NPSF store when you are signed in as a Stand Up member.

 

Annual NPSF Patient Safety Congress

Stand Up members receive a 20% discount on registration for the Annual NPSF Patient Safety Congress. The NPSF Congress is the premier event for learning from and exchanging ideas with patient safety experts and practitioners worldwide. Discounted pricing will be automatically applied to your Congress registration purchase when you are signed in as a Stand Up member.

A directory of all Stand Up members is available to connect and network with other members.

 

Resource Guides

The Stand Up for Patient Safety Resource Guide and Ambulatory Stand Up for Patient Safety Resource Guide are expertly designed, comprehensive sets of materials targeted to help you with your ongoing work in building a culture of safety and implementing and sustaining safety initiatives.

 

Membership Recognition Plaque

Stand Up members receive a recognition plaque that demonstrates the organization’s commitment to patient safety through membership in the Stand Up program.

 

Media Templates and Stand Up Logo

Members are encouraged to download and reproduce the Stand Up logo on internal and external materials. Media templates are available for your use to create op-ed columns in your local paper or press releases for the local media related to your Stand Up membership.
